A thumb nail sketch of the Keystone Brewery Pétanque League
The League is sponsored by the Keystone Brewery and is run as a "Fun League". Neither Players nor Clubs are required to register with the English Pétanque Association (though Players are encouraged to do so).
The Match Rules of the League are based on the Rules of Pétanque published by the English Pétanque Association (EPA). They differ from these Rules by allowing some tolerance -- as befits a Fun League.
Thus players are not forced to use Official boules, as defined in the EPA Rules, but can use leisure or "DOG" boules.
Keen players, used to the League Match Rules, should find it easy to join in regional, national and even international competition -- all they need is an EPA Licence (and a set of official boules).
The League welcomes teams from clubs within a 15 mile radius of its Headquarters at the Benett Arms Hotel in Semley.
