The Keystone Brewery Pétanque League

A message from Nick:

News
Well, the season's over and what a good one it was, with glorious weather on the whole. I'm pleased to announce that our league winners are The Plough at Manston- well done to them- followed closely by The Benett Shooters.

Finals day was a great success despite the inclement weather. Thanks to all who came, to John at the Plough for hosting us, Ian and the ladies of Mere's team for feeding us, and, as always, a special thanks to Keystone Brewery for their generous sponsorship (and the beer!)

We decided to dedicate our knockout competition to Rory, as a gesture of our appreciation for all his hard work in setting up and maintaining our website
(Spare my blushes! Rory)

So, I am pleased to say that "The Rory O'Brien Knockout Cup" was closely fought, and came down to a points difference, but was deservedly won by Joe and Fran from The Plough.

I would like to thank all the teams for their participation. I hope other teams in the area would like to join us in the coming season- all are very welcome, beginners and seasoned players alike

If anyone would like to brave the weather for a winter friendly, current league members or newcomers, feel free to contact me at keystonepetanque@gmail.com.

Nick

--- and from me:

First off, on my and your behalf, I'd like to thank Nick for running the League. Personally I'd like to thank him for introducing me to the League and giving me the opportunity of stsrting this website.

I know how valuable sponsors are in our sport so let's thank Keystone Brewery for their support, especially the liquid form (I live more in hope than expectation of sampling it).

I'd like to congratulate this year's winners. Nick has sent me some photos taken on Final's Day and has promised/threatened to send me more.

When I used to do photo-shoots I got much sharper images of the moving boule. It could have been the camera I used -- but more likely it was the weather I chose. Whoever took the shots I've received was clearly struggling against poor light and murk. Get Nick to organise better weather next year.

Whatever! Watch this space for a few photo.
