The need for Buddy Teams
Background
The constitutions of all the Leagues wirh which I am concerned have a major clause stating that the aim of the League is to promote the game of Pétanque. One way of doing this is by using Fixture Lists providing for Buddy Teams.

Definition
Teams are said to be Buddy Teams when they never have Home fixtures on the same night (except when they play each other).

How do Buddy Teams help promote Pétanque?
Since Buddy Teams can share a small terrain they allow even the smallest club/pub to have two teams.

Some established Leagues could well dispense with Buddying but our area would have far fewer players if we hadn't had the facility when we started the multitude of local leagues.

I believe that "major clause" in the constitutions
means we should keep the facility!
